Lake District

As I always approach the Lake District from the south I've started and ended my routes just north of Carnforth at the Truck Haven service area. This is conveniently placed on the A6 close to junction 35 of the M6 motorway. I prefer to use the A6 to head north from here and the service area provides a good place to meet up for coffee and refuel etc.

Four of my favourite Lakeland routes are contained in the download below, and for those who like a challenge I've included one which takes in all five major passes. Try to avoid the weekend tourist traffic and you'll be rewarded with a far better ride. The best season is late Autumn when the bracken turns the landscape brown and gold. A favourite place of mine is Wasdale Head which is a dead-end but well worth a detour if you can find time.
