Yamaha XT660X

OK, it's not a Triumph - it's a Yamaha XT660X

For me, owning a second bike must provide a different riding experience and in the past I've made the mistake of turning to Triumph's larger machines. This time I wanted something fun to ride and lighter than my main bike and unfortunately for me Triumph don't yet offer a suitable model. The Tiger 800 is too similar to the Explorer and their 675 Street Triple is physically too small for my build. After looking at KTM which tend to be more focussed and expensive I came across a used XT660X with just 60 miles on the clock which fitted the bill nicely. It's no motorway cruiser but it's reliable and well proven single cylinder engine is torquey and provides enough power for lots of fun around the B roads and back lanes. Although light, it's tall and I love the spoked wheels and supermoto looks. I've added Yamaha handguards and an engine bash plate to complete the package. The standard seat and softish suspension set-up make it quite comfortable for all-day riding too. So far I'm very pleased with this bike and can see it having a long term home in my garage.
